samurai female art student and founder of Japan's top art school called Sakura Art School. The four-year program began as a pilot course in 2010 as part of the 'Sakura Class of 2013' from a number of private institutions.

In September 2010, a representative from one of the four schools, in the city of Ishikawa, asked whether the four-year course would be extended for another season, when he was just 11, to cover time as a student, she says.

In January 2011, the first batch of the four-year program was accepted. Today, three years on, Sakura Art School is preparing for the fourth season, says Masada Nakamura, the organization's director.

That year, the team received recognition for an exhibition at the Osaka Art Museum, in honor of the young talent and the "Artful Summer" Festival, about 15 times the number of its previous year. The art schools have also had offers from Tokyo's prestigious Shinsengumi Studio of Studio Ghibli for artists as diverse as Tatsuya Shibata, Hiroshi Kobayashi, Kenji Kobayashi and Takashi Saitou for films as well as work as artists with backgrounds as Chinese artist Fengzhi and Asian artist Shiro Nishikawa.

The first Japanese director's proposal came from Hideo Nishimura, the founder of Kino-Nasu, a company that works for Japanese companies to build and promote their studios in China
