image of a female samurai warrior that looked more like a woman of great size and strength. Some might say those figures were the result of such a complex relationship between the sexes, but the fact that the warrior was in all its glory is also a fact. All things considered, the woman was a real warrior in her period.
One need look no further than the heroic Japanese period when women fought in the army. While the samurai were in full military glory, many in the area came together to battle on horseback to avenge Japan's failure to protect one of their own. In fact, one woman was so powerful that she even fought a duel with the samurai she slew in battle. As time wears on, however, we learn another story.
In the 17th century, a young woman named Maria de Siroria and her lover, Cattandra, a young noble girl, became a warrior named Caligula, one of several women in the town of Islet. She took up the fight for the king, claiming his honor for saving an entire village and for saving her kingdom's economy from disaster at the hands of her father's forces. A large band of noble girls went after them and their warrior counterparts found their way to Islet's ruins, setting up camp just outside of Islet to be the ones forced to fight in battle. It was these ladies that led their armies, one of which later led the samurai to a great mountain village to meet Caligula.
